Mrs. Hansen is beginning her first year of teaching here at IGLLS in 2020. She and her husband Mac got married in August 2020. They have 2 cats, Sylvester and Sheldon, and a chameleon named Kiwi. When she is not at school, she enjoys watching movies, going camping and keyaking, biking, going on walks, spending time with friends and family, and shopping at Hobby Lobby.

First Grade

Mrs. Treybal has been teaching at IGLLS since 2018.  She taught at First English Lutheran Preschool for a year prior to that.  Mrs. Treybal graduated from South Dakota State University in 2017 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  In July of 2020, she married Jake Treybal.  They currently reside on a small acreage with their dogs, cats, and chickens.  She enjoys spending time outside and at the lake.  A big part of her free time consists of spending time with her family.

Mrs. Nitzel has taught at IGLLS since 2016. Prior to teaching here, she taught at Zion Lutheran School in Beaver, MI, Immanuel Lutheran School, Bay City, MI, Bloomington High School, Bloomington, IL, Trinity Lutheran School, Bloomington, IL. She has been teaching since 2002. Heather is married to Pastor Chris Nitzel, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hartley. They have four children: Aiden, Josiah, Simeon, and Caleb. They have a Siberian husky named Shadow. Her favorite hobbies include reading, spending time with family, taking the dog for walks, camping, bike riding, playing tennis, cooking, baking, listening to Christian music, going to concerts, traveling, watching musicals and movies, and entertaining.

Ms. Bernau is a graduate of Concordia, St. Paul, and is beginning her teaching career at IGLLS in 2020. She is the daughter of Marlin and Brenda and has a sister Marissa. She enjoys baking, hiking, and biking.

Ms. Wallace has been teaching since 2018. Ms. Wallace has one sister who also teaches, 2 brothers, a sister-in-law and a niece.  She is a graduate of Concordia University Wisconsin.  Ms. Wallace enjoys reading, photography, and hiking.

Mrs. Schauer has been teaching at IGLLS since 2002. Prior to IGLLS, she taught six years at Immanuel Lutheran, Waterloo, IA, and Trinity/Faribault Lutheran, Faribault, MN. She and her husband Michael have 3 daughters, Abigail, Jenna, and Megan, and 2 dogs Jazzie and Finn. She especially likes to read, camp, hike, and do some crafts.

Fifth - Seventh Grades

Mrs. Dallman has been teaching at IGLLS for 3 years. She has been teaching a total of 18 years, starting at Columbus Community Schools and Knoxville Community Schools prior to teaching at IGLLS. She is married to Shannon and has a step-daughter Makenzie. In her free time, Mrs. Dallman likes to spend time with family and read.

Mr. Estes taught for 39 years at North Tama County Community School. He began at IGLLS in 2021 and enjoys the part-time role and working with the students.  In his spare time he enjoys golfing, working on his acreage, watching sporting events.

Mr. Tom Rutt

Band Teacher

Mr. Rutt provides band instruction at IGLLS. He has been providing private lessons at IGLLS since 2009. Mr. Rutt also assists with lessons at the Spencer Middle School and taught instrumental music for 3 years at Lytton and 7 years at Emmetsburg. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife Tierny, son Eric and daughter Sarah. Mr. Rutt is on the approved adjudicator list for the Iowa High School Music Association and also enjoys reading, walking and biking.

Mrs. Popp has been principal at IGLLS since 2018. She moved from San Antonio, TX, where she was assistant principal and math teacher at Lutheran High School. She also taught at St. Mark Lutheran in Houston, TX. She has been teaching since 1991. Mrs. Popp is married to Michael and they have a husky named Blu. Outside of school, Mrs. Popp enjoys running, music, reading, and going to estate sales.

Romans 15:13 – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Mrs. Pearson has worked at IGLLS since 2018. She loves to see the joy in every student when they come through the door each day. Prior to working here she worked at the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. She worked on several economic development tasks, but thoroughly enjoyed working on the youth entrepreneurial initiative. Holly is married to Jay Pearson. They have two boys Hunter & Hugh. Holly loves traveling, being at the lake, boating, canoeing, ranger riding and snow skiing.
