The band program at IGLLS has been active since 2001. Students begin band instruction the summer before 5th grade as part of the Spencer Schools band program. In the fall, the students receive a 20 minute private lesson with an area band instructor. The students take part in the public school band programs for their large ensemble experience and are bused by Spencer Schools buses to and from Lincoln Elementary(5th grade band) or the middle school (6th grade band). The students play holiday songs during lunch before the Christmas break and also perform solos in the spring as part of the public school solo festival (6th grade). The students have been accompanied on their solos for many years by Kristin Kaldahl.
